چکیده

Table 1, which also includes relative molecular mass data obtained from sequencing the solutes. It is seen that fairly accurate values for relative molecular mass can be obtained for the larger molecules, which can be extremely useful when dealing with completely unknown biopolymers. The errors involved are signiRcantly greater for the materials of smaller relative molecular mass because the response (the amount of light scattered) is much less, and the output signal is much closer to the noise level of the sensing system. Further discussion of these types of detector are furnished in references provided in the Further Reading section.

Size Fractionation by Slalom Chromatography and Hydrodynamic Chromatography

Hydrodynamic chromatography, also called separation by flow, is based on the use of the parabolic flow profile occurring in open capillaries or in the pores from a column filled with non-porous particles. The hydrodynamic chromatography separation medium, if any, is much simpler than that from size exclusion chromatography (porous particles), the former technique being used in the size-fraction...

Nanoparticle Analysis by Online Comprehensive Two-Dimensional Liquid Chromatography combining Hydrodynamic Chromatography and Size-Exclusion Chromatography with Intermediate Sample Transformation

Polymeric nanoparticles have become indispensable in modern society with a wide array of applications ranging from waterborne coatings to drug-carrier-delivery systems. While a large range of techniques exist to determine a multitude of properties of these particles, relating physicochemical properties of the particle to the chemical structure of the intrinsic polymers is still challenging. A n...

On-chip hydrodynamic chromatography of DNA through centimeters-long glass nanocapillaries.

This study demonstrates hydrodynamic chromatography of DNA fragments in a microchip. The microchip contains a highly regular array of nanofluidic channels (nanocapillaries) that are essential for resolving DNA in this chromatography mode. The nanocapillaries are self-enclosed robust structures built inside a doped glass layer on silicon using low-resolution photolithography and standard semicon...

The polypeptide biophysics of proline/alanine‐rich sequences (PAS): Recombinant biopolymers with PEG‐like properties

PAS polypeptides comprise long repetitive sequences of the small L-amino acids proline, alanine and/or serine that were developed to expand the hydrodynamic volume of conjugated pharmaceuticals and prolong their plasma half-life by retarding kidney filtration. Here, we have characterized the polymer properties both of the free polypeptides and in fusion with the biopharmaceutical IL-1Ra. Data f...

Hydrodynamic characterisation of chemically degraded hyaluronic acid

Hyaluronic acid (HA) is a natural macromolecule with importance in the pharmaceutical, medical and cosmetic industries. The knowledge of its hydrodynamic properties is fundamentally important for further study on its applications. The aim of our study was to investigate and provide hydrodynamic parameters for six different molar mass samples chemically produced by depolymerisation of a high mol...
